I'm feeling like the color purple

In my class at school, I teach the kids to tell me how they are feeling by identifying with a color. So if they are feeling angry, or mad they tell me they are feeling red, if they are happy normally they say they are feeling yellow or blue. I'm feeling a bit purple. How would I describe feeling purple? I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed but happy and strong. I've been super busy planning all sorts of Valentines activities for my kiddos in school, our theme for Valentines Day is "I mustache you to be my valentine" above is a sample picture of me wearing one of our class mustaches :) Anyway, on to the mani!
For Christmas, my awesome friend Nia bought me a TON of nail polishes and my first Rimmel polish! I was happily surprised at how awesome the formula for this polish is! It is a nice thick formula and the brush coats your nail super evenly. I used two coats of Wild Orchid for this mani, but I definitely could have gotten away with just one coat! This polish definitely one of my top favorites....and because I get bored easily, I first topped my mani with a thin swipe of one of my Nicole Justin Bieber mini polishes (which i sadly don't have a name for) and I thought it looked darling.
Then I was out shopping with my mom today and at Walgreens I stumbled upon TWO left over polishes for Wet n' Wild's Ice Baby collection!!! I was really excited *squee* I scooped them both up and added a splash of "Believe me, it's real!" onto my ring fingers. Topped with a thick coat of SV for shine :)
"Believe me it's real" is an awesome small blue glitter with larger purple glitter scattered throughout it. I absolutely LOVE the Ice Baby collection and wish I would have boughten them all when they first came out in October :( but at least I have 3 from the collection!

Classy Halloween Mani & Julep Polish

Last night I finally had a moment to breathe and decided to try to do a tape mani using my new Julep nail polishes! I became a Julep Maven 2 months ago (I'll post about that later!) and just received my second package from them on Wednesday! I'm writing this while my students are at lunch, and I entirely forgot to bring my polishes with me to get their names :( But anyway..
This was my first time using my Julep polishes. I was impressed with their quality, they gave a nice opaque cover in just one coat :) I used two coats of the gray polish (I'll update the name when I get home!) Pictured above is Julep polish without a top coat, you can see the nice sheen this polish has!
Then I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep my nails glossy, so I painted my right hand with my Hard Candy Matte top coat :) And I quite like the look of the mani matte :)

I Absolutely LOVE the red gel glitter polish, it's called Brooklyn and the only reason I remember that is because I fell in love with the name before I even saw the polish haha! Overall I am super happy with the way Julep nail polishes go on. They provide a good smooth application and leave your nails looking extremely fresh and sexy for the fall season :)

Meet the Parents take 2 and Purple Birthday Nails

:) Josh is one of the lucky people who have two fantastic families. I was blessed to meet one side of them last Monday (I blogged about it!) and yesterday I was able to meet his other side! It was a grand family get together, with a ton of his aunts, uncles, grand parents and cousins. Everyone was so sweet!! So for the occasion I decided to paint my nails in happy southern girl colors :P I used two of my new polishes! I feel like the combination is similar to Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday in more muted tones :)

I used two coats of Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, which is just the prettiest shade of lilac purple I've ever come across: (please excuse the messy paint job, i was in a hurry to get ready to meet up with Josh!)
I then added a few coats of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. I liked this polish a lot, but it was EXTREMELY difficult to get the large glitter out of the bottle or to stay on the nail when spreading it out. Putting on this top coat of glitter took me about 15 minutes :( I'll have to experiment with ways to get better results with the glitter next time!! I finished off the mani with 1 coat of SV.
I wore a sweet little Hollister sundress with these nails and it pulled together perfectly for the event!
And I know since I blog about him so much, you all would like to have a face to put to the name! Here's Josh and me on his Birthday on Friday :)
And here!!! are the delicious sugar cookie candy bars I made for his family's bbq! They were super yummy and everyone loved them!! Another fantastic recipe from my new cookie book :)

Pink Wednesday & the L Word

It's Wednesday! That means pink polish :) and a chance to try out my new pretties!!! I used 4coats of Color Club Vintage Couture, it is a very sheer pigment, and it took about 4 coats to get all the brush strokes out.. I topped it with two coats of the new Wen n-Wild Hannah Pinktana, which is a really soft small holo. and I LOVE IT! I tried to capture the sparkle in the polish in the picture above (sorry for the yellowish tone to the photographs tonight, my camera was having a hard time with my white focus :( )
Here's the pink dynamic duo! I love the way Hannah Pinktana went on, it was extremely creamy, and it put a nice even coat of the holo on each nail :) I'm pleasantly pleased with this polish!! I can't wait to go back to Walgreens and pick up the rest of this new collection :)
Here's just a comparison picture of the plain Color Club polished nails vs. the wet n' wild holo coated nails. I tried to get a good image to show just how awesome the Hannah Pinktana polish is! I stamped my nails using Kleancolor Metallic Black and my BM cheetah print plate!

I know you guys probably think I am insane for posting this blog at 2 in the morning, knowing that I have to be up at 6:30, for a full day of internship/emt work until 10pm. But, awesome things have been happening in my life. I've spent some amazing quality time with my friend Nia...which I PROMISE to blog about tomorrow, or Thursday as soon as I have the time! But also, I've been spending great time with Josh. As you guys read I met his family on Monday and it was spectacular. I really enjoyed their company and his mom cooked an amazing meal! Since his birthday is on Friday we also did a small celebration with birthday cake :) This boy definitely has me swooning. <3

Sugar Coated Pink Crackle

So, I was incredibly bored, which I was thoroughly enjoying (haha!) and couldn't decide how I wanted my nails to look :) I started off with two coats of OPI Princesses Rule! Which is a gorgeous powered pink sparkle polish, which was pretty...
....but I wasn't satisfied, so I then coated it with two coats of China Glaze White Cap which is an incredible iridescent sheer glitter...and still bored with the mani, I added OPI Black Shatter!
The winning trio!

Deborah Lippmann Dupe :)

Ok, so it's not really a dupe, more like creative layering! :) I used Essence "You Belong To me" Which is a really pretty cream sky blue, and layered Wet n'Wild "Party of Five Glitters" over it :) Completed the mani with 2 coats of SV!
What do you guys think? I personally adore this combination :)

Blue Navy and my Best Friend

THIS is my best friend, Lisa, on the left, and me. I love this girl like crazy. We've been best friends for almost a decade. She's my rock, without a doubt. Lisa is in the NROTC and will be an officer in the Navy in a year!! (congrats girl!!) So, part of being in the NROTC requires that she goes on "cruises" every summer with the Navy, and this summer she's lucky enough to get to Japan! She left a little over a week ago and won't return home until July 8! Which makes me pretty sad :( So to celebrate Lisa and how proud I am of all of her accomplishments, I did a fun blue sparkle mani, since blue is her favorite color!!
I apologize for the horrrrrible lighting on this photograph, it was seriously impossible to get a decent picture of this awesome mani! I started with a base coat of Essence Denim Wanted! nail polish in Forever mine. It's a really gorgeous royal blue. I then topped it with 2 coats of a WalMart find (with Lisa of course!!) of Pure ICE in "Strapless" and BOY does this glitter shine!
This is the mani with 2 coats of SV over it. See how hard it was to get the sparkle without the flash? But I loved this mani, probably one of my favorites of the summer!!
