I'm feeling like the color purple

In my class at school, I teach the kids to tell me how they are feeling by identifying with a color. So if they are feeling angry, or mad they tell me they are feeling red, if they are happy normally they say they are feeling yellow or blue. I'm feeling a bit purple. How would I describe feeling purple? I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed but happy and strong. I've been super busy planning all sorts of Valentines activities for my kiddos in school, our theme for Valentines Day is "I mustache you to be my valentine" above is a sample picture of me wearing one of our class mustaches :) Anyway, on to the mani!
For Christmas, my awesome friend Nia bought me a TON of nail polishes and my first Rimmel polish! I was happily surprised at how awesome the formula for this polish is! It is a nice thick formula and the brush coats your nail super evenly. I used two coats of Wild Orchid for this mani, but I definitely could have gotten away with just one coat! This polish definitely one of my top favorites....and because I get bored easily, I first topped my mani with a thin swipe of one of my Nicole Justin Bieber mini polishes (which i sadly don't have a name for) and I thought it looked darling.
Then I was out shopping with my mom today and at Walgreens I stumbled upon TWO left over polishes for Wet n' Wild's Ice Baby collection!!! I was really excited *squee* I scooped them both up and added a splash of "Believe me, it's real!" onto my ring fingers. Topped with a thick coat of SV for shine :)
"Believe me it's real" is an awesome small blue glitter with larger purple glitter scattered throughout it. I absolutely LOVE the Ice Baby collection and wish I would have boughten them all when they first came out in October :( but at least I have 3 from the collection!

Sometimes Life Happens

Spring Cleaning. After.
Before: yucky!
I made the decision to clean my room and clean up my life, and find myself, and happiness again. It started with my nail polish collection, because my nail polish has always brought me happiness and joy. I dumped it out and with the help of my dear friend Nia, we went to work organizing my polishes by color.
Getting my polishes organized was such a relief to me. Being able to look at my collection in all its glory I find strangely satisfying haha! And of course, I had to get a mani in with my newest installment of Julep Polishes:
In my February maven package (my first maven package I received in about 3 months, I had been putting my account on hold because I just wasn't passionate about nail painting anymore) I received two gorgeous colors: Glenn (red) and Oscar (Gold sparkle). I like how regal this mani turned out :)

Thanks for staying with me through that drawn out production.

Katy Perry Nails for Halloween

SO! I'm blogging to you from my man's house today :) I had to use his reading light for my pictures haha, sorry!! Tonight is the Fire Fighter Monster Bash party, and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! I'm super excited because I made my own Katy Perry costume and it looks fierce! :D Anyway! To accompany my Katy perry Cupcake bra, I went with a layered pink mani! I started off with two coats of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink, this color alone is gorgeous! I wish I had gotten a picture of it before I started layering the glitter :( I'll so a swatch some time soon, I promise!
After the Sally Hansen, I layed two coats of Wet'n'Wild Hannah Pinktana, which is also another STUNNING polish! It's a pink small holo and I love it. It's one of my all time favorite polishes in my collection :) But still, I was going for the Katy Perry Glitter Everywhere effect, which led me to put a layer of my unnamed Bon Bon pink holo on top! I finished off the mani with a top of SV :)
While driving back to Josh's house on my way from picking up my costume at my place, I couldn't help but almost crash as I admired my pretty sparkley nails :D I took a picture with my phone so you guys could see just how sparkley this mani truly is!
Then, I made a pit stop at Walgreens because I realized I had forgotten my bobby pins at home-fail. I need them for my wig tonight! And on my way to check out I just happened to catch sight of the new Limited Edition at Walgreens Exclusively Wet'n'Wild Collection, I picked up one of the polishes in Diamond in the Rough. It was hard not to snatch up all 8 of the polishes, but I have put myself on a strict No-Buy for awhile :(
Here's a sneak peek of my costume for tonight! I took this pic using my webcam earlier in the week to show Ryan part of my costume that he helped me create!

Sweet Sunday Moments

It's been one heck of a rainy weekend here, and Josh worked again today, so I had a lot of time to stay inside and get some work done for my classroom, and of course...on my nails! I was looking through my nail polish collection wondering if I should paint my nails before seeing Josh tonight and I decided that I should just do it! I've been using a lot of bland fall colors recently and I needed something bright and cheery for such a rainy day. I busted out my Color Club Starry Temptress boxed set that I got at Ross a while ago but never used. I chose to use Space Case-and I love the color!
It's a really pale neon pink, think bubble yum gum color. This is the only color in the collection that also has a soft shimmer of iridescent shimmer to accompany the holographic sparkle. I used 3 coats of Space Case, two coats was really sufficient but I wanted to make the color pop, so I added a third coat. The polish dried in a weird almost matte finish and the glitter is not too noticeable, which made me a bit sad to see...
but thats when I added the AMAZING Starry Temptress topcoat!! And boy oh boy does this sparkle polish really get the dazzle on there. I have never used a glitter polish that actually PUTS glitter on your nail. In one swipe of the brush my entire nail would be covered in a perfect coat of glitter.
I finished off the mani with a coat of SV to give it that signature glassy shine that I love!
I've had a lot of time the past few days to reflect on some things, like my relationship with Josh. And the quote above describes how I feel about my relationship perfectly. I got to visit him today at the fire station for a few hours. We sat and talked to the other firefighters and medic for a bit, and I couldn't help but stare at him. Not in a weird creepy stalker type of way, but looking at him is mesmerizing to me. I just love him, so much.

So after I saw Josh, I met up with a dear friend of mine, Heather, at Applebees and we girl chatted for a few hours! It was a ton of fun, and always is with her. She's a super good friend of mine...and the best part is, I totally got her into nail polish!! haha! she just bought her first OPI polish, I'm so proud I could cry <3

Hot off the Press! Newspaper Mani

Josh picked up a shift at work yesterday, which gave me some unexpected time to myself..so what did I do?? Searched youtube for fun nail polish videos! One of my favorite nail enthusiasts to watch is Cute Polish. She does the most amazing, cute and quirky nail designs :) I've seen the news paper mani done before, but after watching a quick video on it, I decided to give it a shot!
I used one of my unnamed Color Club minis from a set that I picked up at ross a little while ago. I wish this color had a name because it is such a sweet gray/lavender. It was pretty sheer so I had to apply 3 coats to get it to a nice opaque finish. I made the mistake of putting a thin coat of SV on it before I started to apply the newspaper. Doing this caused the news paper print to transfer really lightly :( I know for next time to not apply a top coat before doing the transfer! I finished off the mani with a coat of SV to protect the news print from rubbing off.
This picture captured the color of the polish super well. It's a great fall color, and one that I would use again some time soon! :)
ALSO! some exciting news! My new nail plates arrived yesterday from Born Pretty!!! I received 16 image plates!! ahhh so excited!!

Facebook Official Nails

I was lucky enough to spend some much needed time with my man today :) One of the first things he said to me when I got to his house was "so I guess it's officially official" haha, since we finally came out on facebook with our relationship. Like I said in my post yesterday, we weren't making our relationship public on facebook for a few reasons, but yesterday I sent him a request to confirm our relationship, totally thinking he would ignore it. To my surprise, he messaged me on facebook and said "I got your request" my heart raced haha, then he goes "I confirmed it". I couldn't believe it!! I smiled super big, it's the small things in life that makes me happy lol. I'm glad that our relationship is finally "facebook official" even though we've been serious for a while now, it's nice to be able to proudly display that :P
ok ok, enough of my blabbering on to my nails! I used Sally Hansen HD nail color in BLU.. and I was awfully disappointed in this polish, it goes on very very very thin. I used 3 coats and I still feel its thin, I should have went for 4 coats.. Then on my ring finger I used my new Milani 3D holographic polish in HD!
I painstakingly hand painted the Facebook F logo using my Sally Hansen nail art pen in white, and the red heart with my left hand lol, using first my Art Deco Red glitter, and then going over it with Pure ICE Siren. I think they came out pretty well :)
Off to spend the evening with my man!!

Lights and Sirens missing my man

Today Josh is working again :( But before I get to that let me recap on our awesome day yesterday: it was amazing. Best part was getting cuddles all night long! I win :) Anyway, so since Josh was working today I figured it was the perfect time to try my new ICE Siren nail polish! I loved the formula, and used two coats. I then stamped Color Club Hey Gorgeous over it :) and finished it off with a coat of SV..
so Josh worked today as a paramedic at a pretty busy station. The guy that normally cooks dinner for him was not going to be in today-so I almost too happily offered to cook for him. I did, and was about to leave my house when he texted me to let me know he had to go out on a call..he got back an hour later and told me to come, and I did, I saw him for a total of 3 minutes before he got another call and had to go be a hero. I'm so incredibly proud of him, even though I miss him like crazy! (photo borrowed from Alex_English flickr)
Here are the polishes I used, sorry for the crappy lighting, my camera battery was dying :(

One last thing, Josh and I were keeping our relationship pretty low key for a few reasons, but finally made it facebook official tonight, I call that winning <3

EMS Nails for Pink Wednesday

I was studying for my EMT test last night, and was getting distracted by my nails and realized I needed to take a break from studying and change my polish! :) Since Josh is a paramedic, I was definitely in the EMS mood! I got my inspiration for this mani while surfing the web a little while ago, I wish I still had the inspiration picture so I could credit the artist! :( Anyway, I used two coats of Color Clubs black holo Revvvolution, and then painted the EKG heart beat on my nails, because my boy gives me a humming bird heartbeat! Painting the beat took a decent amount of time since I used a tooth pick to do it lol
And since there was no way I could repeat the process on my right hand using my useless left hand, I opted to try another of my new Kleancolor Holos, Chunk Holo Black :) I topped both hands off with a coat of SV, as you can see in the picture above the SV did cause a bit of srhinkage :(
Here are the polishes I used in all their glory :)
Then, I made a pit stop at walmart on my way home from my man's house, and of course had to look at their polishes, where I picked up these two beauties purely based on their names:
Rescue Me and Siren. Yea, my boy has me in an EMS mood <3

Pink Wednesday & Cotton Candy Feelings

It's Wednesday!!!
My variation for pink Wednesday this week, is brought to you by my girly in love heart haha! I literally have felt like the biggest dreamer the past few days, its funny how boys can do that to a girl! Anyway! So here is my fun Pink Wednesday mani :)
This was my first time experimenting with the Sally Hansen nail art pen, which I found annoying to use at first. Since it was new the polish wasn't flowing out thick, and I had to go over the designs a few times before they even became opaque. It was quite discouraging and also caused some flooding in the designs. :( I added some Swarovski rhinestones for sparkle...and quite frankly because there was absolutely no way I could hand paint little designs using my left hand!
So my right hand just got a ton of different bling added to it :P But I do love the contrast between the two hands, my left hand is all girly and drawn and my right hand is just like a rock star lol Reminds me of Taylor Swift a bit!
Here's everything that was used (SV isn't pictured) Sinful Colors Pink Forever; Orly pink glitter (no name); OPI Princesses Rule; Essence You Belong To me; Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in white
I actually met up with my friend Jess at Starbucks and we caught up on life and she watched me paint my nails lol
She captured the moment for all you guys :) haha, we definitely left Starbucks smelling like a nail salon, whoopsies!
The work space haha I love spending time with good friends and nail polish! And after our lovely time at Starbucks I got to meet up with my man for a perfect end to my evening <3

Boyfriend Josh's Birthday & Dying our hair!

I'm finally a brunette again! :) haha, Nia and I decided to go on a hair dying adventure :) I was annoyed with my brown roots growing out, and did not want to rebleach my hair (it awas do damaged from the first dying) :( SO! We picked up box dye from walmart and Ulta and started our adventure!
I used the Perfect 10 color on my hair and Nia used the Feria color, haha we had a blast! The Feria color went on really smoothly and didn't smell bad at all!! It was only a 25 minute setting time as well :) Nia did my hair, and the Perfect 10 dye came with this even distributing comb for the dye bottle, and it was a totally easy process :) Neither of us had used boxed dye before!
This is us before the hair experiment began lol, sorry the picture didn't flip for some odd reason :(
And here's us waiting for the dye to set haha, the Perfect 10 color took only 10 minutes :)
We are both super thrilled with how well the color came out on our hair!! Tonight is Josh's birthday and I have a ton of surprises planned for him :) More updates tomorrow!
